Prof. Robert Andrew

The Editorial Board of the Annals of Maxillofacial Surgery is happy to welcome Prof. Robert Andrew Ord as its Honorary Editor-in-Chief.  “Prof. Bob” as he is fondly called by his friends and students succeeds Prof. Daniel Laskin, who guided the journal from its inception.

Prof. Ord has an illustrious career spanning more than 4 decades and was named a “Top Doctor” in the specialty of oral-maxillofacial surgery by Baltimore magazine in 2016. His primary interest lies in the surgical management of head and neck cysts and tumors. The majority of his operations are for cancers of the mouth, jaws, sinuses, and salivary glands. He’s also interested in benign cancers in this area, as well as jaw and oral cavity repair. He is passionate about both basic science and clinical studies in the field of head and neck cancer. Besides the treatment part, Prof. Ord takes his graduate teaching at the residency and fellowship level very seriously and inspired thousands of young dentists and surgeons. His lectures at national and international meetings are always well attended and most sought after one.

He is a former examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the University of Singapore.

He has published over 100 scientific papers, 40 plus book chapters, co-edited 3 books Oral Cancer, The Dentist’s Role in Diagnosis, Management Rehabilitation and Prevention, Textbook and Color Atlas of Salivary Gland Pathology and Operative Maxillofacial Surgery 2nd edition.
